October is National Kink Month! For these 4 weeks, there will be 1 simple, easy-to-follow challenge per week provided. These challenges are for ALL POK, people of kink, basically anyone who identifies with BDSM and related alternative lifestyles.
Week 3 - BDSM? Are you sure?? Exploring similar or related alternative lifestyles. (beginning October 15, 2014):
For D/s/S’s alike, this week’s challenge is all about exploring ideas, if you will. Take the next week to review some of the topics listed below. While reading through the provided links and other info you may find, understand the parts of this challenge include:
- continuing education in alternative lifestyles
- reevaluation of one’s claimed identity in kink
- solidification of one’s views of various disciplines within the broader scope of kink
While reading on these alternative lifestyles, consider:
- Does this AL feel comfortable to me?
- Does this AL include any components of living that are for me?
- How does this AL measure against (components of) BDSM as I currently understand it?
- Does this information help to weaken or solidify my lifestyle views?
Why these? Because there are a plethora of living, loving and relational styles that are kinky, similar to kink, related to kink or otherwise intermingled with kink for us to learn about, and possibly (likely!) learn from. These are a few with which I’m familiar, but you are invited to provide input on other styles fellow kinksters may also enjoy reading about. Of note, the inclusion of any topic below is neither an endorsement nor a slight!!
I DO UNDERSTAND SOME OF YOU WILL NOT BE PLEASED BY THE INCLUSION OF AT LEAST ONE OF THESE. No need for nastygrams about it. Thanks.
The list, in alphabetical order:

Also includes Mommies and babygirls.

TiH (Taken in Hand; includes HoH, or Head of Household): http://www.takeninhand.com/ (and http://www.takeninhand.com/bdsm.practices.in.our.taken.in.hand.relationship)
Of course, it’s beneficial to avoid relying on a single source of information in the (any) lifestyle, so please read beyond what’s provided in the links above on the topics of your choosing.
Remember to refer back to the bullet points above on what this challenge includes and things to consider as you review the information within the links provided!
NOTE: FOR WEEK 4, D-types/tops may want to have some rope ready. s-types/bottoms may want to have some lotion. :)
Disclaimer: National Kink Month was started a few years ago by The Stockroom. I am not affiliated with them and this challenge is being run independently.
they are updating it, but i just got this super awesome “Consent Form” from the fine folks @thepleasurechest. even if you’re not into kink, i think this is a great tool to help you talk openly about what you want to do with your partners.
you can find it here—> http://thepleasurechest.com/pc/howto/negotiating-sex-with-the-yesnomaybe-list/
